Plan benefits
- One monthly premium covers final expenses for you and up to five (5) eligible family members
- No medical examination required
- Receive the full individual benefit (per person) for valid claims
- Lifetime insurance coverage once you enrol before age seventy-six (76)
Plan coverage
TECU members can apply for any of the seven (7) coverage options with the Family Indemnity Plan. Cover you and any combination of the persons below:
- Your spouse/significant other or any combination of up to two persons from your parents or parents-in-law (these persons must be enrolled before age 76)
- Your children (including dependent children under your legal guardianship, aged 1 through 25 and who are not yet married)
- Permanently disabled children are covered for the duration of their lives once they are enrolled before age twenty-six (26)

Documents needed to submit a Family Indemnity Plan claim
- Valid government issued I.D. for the claimant
- Valid government issued I.D. for the insured deceased
- Proof of address – utility bill, bank or credit union statement not more than 3 months old
- Proof of the relationship – i.e. your marriage certificate for spouse, your birth certificate for parent or your child’s birth certificate for your child
- Death certificate for the insured deceased
CUNA Family Critical Illness Plan

No medical is required to sign up for this plan.
Benefits and special features
- Access up to $300,000 worth of coverage should you or any one of your covered family members become diagnosed with one of the six specified critical illnesses
- Enrol before the age of 60. Children may be enrolled prior to age 26
- You and each of your covered family members are entitled to one lump sum payment for the life of the plan
- Get a 50% refund on premiums if there has been no claim made on reaching 75
Premuim
- Premium is calculated based on an age banded premium rate guide
- Premiums for each person covered under the Family Critical Illness Plan will be determined by their age on the date of their application for coverage
- The premium amount payable for each coverage amount applied for remains the same for that coverage amount throughout the lifetime of the Plan for each insured person
Filing a Family Critical Illness claim
- A completed claim form is needed as proof of diagnosis to receive the critical illness benefit. The claim form must be accompanied by a detailed medical report signed by the attending specialist of the Insured Person
- Additional proof or information to determine benefits may be required
